Dawn

Director (ECE III)

Dawn is the Director of the centre, and she joined MKCCC back in August of 2000. She brings over 30 years of experience and expertise to the centre. Dawn is an Early Childhood Educator III and a graduate from Red River College Polytech. Dawn’s finest skills are she’s a great listener, always open for questions and concerns, very even-tempered and understanding. She makes our centre a wonderful place to work, creates a strong sense of family and always lends a hand where needed. Dawn also assists in the School-age program.  Dawn enjoys spending time with her children, camping, and going for nightly walks with her husband.  

Colleen

Assistant Director (ECE III)

Colleen has been with the centre for over two decades. Back in 1996, when she started, the centre only had sixty-two children, it now has 113. Colleen assisted with 2 expansions that took place over the years. She is the Assistant Director of the centre and Graduated with her Early Childhood Educator III in the Early Childhood Program management from Assiniboine Community College. Colleen’s strong organizational skills and her dedication and passion for the centre shows through the many projects she has been involved with at the centre. Her enthusiasm for our centre shines through as she is always looking for ways to make the centre be the best it can be. She also assists in the school-age program. She enjoys spending time with her husband, family, working out and biking.

Suzanne

Room 1 Leader (ECE III)

Suzanne joined the MKCCC team in 2007. She is a recent grad from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Studies and obtained her Early Childhood Educator III. Suzanne is the room leader in room 1 where she works with the Kindergarten and Nursery children. Her creativity shines bright, supporting the children’s interests through play experiences and capitalizing on spontaneous play for the children. Suzanne enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, going to the gym, getting together with friends and family, reading and being a huge fan of hockey and football.

Natalie

Room 4 Leader (ECE II)

Natalie is the room 4 leader and works with the 3&1/2 and 4&1/2 year-old-children. She captivates the children with her beautiful singing voice, and love for music and her dancing. She uses her creative planning skills to help the children thrive in their growth and development. Natalie is an Early Childhood Educator II graduate from Red River College Polytech and has been with the Centre since fall of 2009. Natalie enjoys shopping online, going to the spa and visiting many of Winnipeg’s finest eateries. She shares her thoughts and pictures on Instagram of some of the best places to eat.

Sukhi

ECE II

Sukhi has been with the Centre since 2005. She works in room 5 with the 2 and 3-year-olds, and in the School Age program. She is an Early Childhood Educator graduate with her II from Red River College Polytech. Sukhi, can always be seeing smiling, laughing, baking and dancing with the children. She always finds ways to keep the children challenged with the activities she plans and works hard to create a home-like experience at the Centre. Sukhi enjoys spending time with her family, loving up her first grandchild, and can always be seen enjoying a cup of tea on her break.  

Narinder

School-age Leader (ECE II)

Narinder is a graduate from Red River College Polytech where she obtained her Early Childhood Educator II. She joined the MKCCC crew in 2011. She works in the preschool program with the 2 & 3-year old’s in room 5. Narinder is always looking for ways to challenge the children with her activities and support their growth. Narinder is married and has a two daughters who keeps her very busy. Narinder enjoys spending time with her family and drinking tea.

Annaliza

(CCA)

Annaliza has been with the centre since 2015 and is an Child Care Assistant. She works in room 1 with the kinder and Nursery children. Annalizia’s calm personality meshes well with the children she works with. She loves joking with the children, she’s intuitive to their needs, and the children always know that they can go to her to help them solve their problems. Annaliza enjoys spending time with her husband and children, she enjoys listening to music, going to the spa and salon. Annaliza in in the process of obtaining her ECE II.

Harjinder

(CCA)

Harjinder joined our team in 2018 and is a Child Care Assistant. Even though she is very new to our centre, you would never know it. Harjinder works in room 4 with the 3 & 4 year-old- children. Her connection with the children and staff are very strong. She is always searching for ways to improve her skills and has the children’s interests always in mind. She is very friendly and outgoing and has a one of the best senses of humour.  She enjoys spending time with her family and sewing.

Thelma

(CCA)

Thelma has been with Mary Kardash Child Care Centre for over 10 years. She is a Child Care Assistant and works in room 4, with the 3 & 4 year-old-children. Thelma is very quiet but has a very easy going personality. She enjoys doing art activities with the children and teaching them new skills.  Thelma enjoys gardening, baking, spending time with her family and always is looking for ways to improve her skill through professional development.

Cindy

(CCA)

Before joining the MKCCC team back in 2015, Cindy operated a home centre for many years. She is a Child Care Assistant and works in room 5, with the 2 & 3-year-old children. Cindy’s gentle nature keeps the children calm and makes their time at the centre enjoyable and comfortable. Cindy is married and has three children. She is excited to be welcoming her second grandchild in the very near future. Cindy enjoys baking, spa days and painting.

Stefanie

(CCA)

Stefanie works with the school-age program. She also works in the kitchen and prepares snacks and creates exquisite dishes for our hot lunch program. Stefanie also has the opportunity to work with the other programs. She is very flexible and adapts to whatever situation is thrown her way. She has been with MKCCC since 2014 and is a Child Care Assistant. Her plan is to start the ECE program soon to obtain her ECE II training through Red River College. She loves spending time with her family, sketching, gaming and going to hockey games with her dad.  

Iris

(CCA)

Iris is a Child Care Assistant and has been working part-time with the centre since 2014, she started working in the preschool program but now has move to the school-age program. The school-age children enjoy their afternoon chats with her as they share many stories with her. You can always see Iris with a smile on her face and laughing with the children. Iris also works as a Teacher’s Assistant with the Winnipeg 1 school division. She has 2 grown children and 2 cats whom she treats like gold. In her spare time she refinishes and stains furniture, enjoys gardening, sketching and painting.

Cassandra

(ECE II)

Cassandra joined our team in the fall of 2021. She is a Red River College Polythec ECE II graduate. She works mainly with the Chickadee’s group but when needed, works with all the other age groups as well. She is a great teammate who is friendly and always carries a smile. Cassandra is family oriented and proud of her Ukrainian heritage.

Richard

(CCA)

Richard is a Child Care Assistant who started as a substitute but stayed on and became a full-time employee in 2023. Richard is no stranger to the Luxton School community as he spent many years as part of the schools lunch program. Richard is easy going, friendly, and always has a smile. He is a great addition to our team.

Requirements of Staff

-Must be 18 years or older

-All staff are trained in CPR and First-aid

-Staff must also have their Child Abuse Check and their Criminal Record check to be employed with the centre

-They take many workshops and fulfill their 24 hrs of professional development each year.

-Be trained as either an Early Childhood Educator (ECE), or a Child Care Assistant (CCA)
